Bat Removal Greater Toronto Area
Bats in your attic? Don’t panic. We have the necessary removal system to help you with your problem. Here are some things you should know. Bats are nocturnal, they like dark places like your attic, chimney, and basement. There are things you can look for when trying to find out where they are getting in from or if you have a bat problem in the first place.
First visual signs of potentially having a bat problem in your attic can be found by doing a walk around your home. Have a walk and look between your sidings and soffits. If you see a visible gap, anywhere near an inch, it could be a potential area bats may be entering into your attic from. But that’s not enough to suspect that bats are present there now, or have been in past. Approach under an area with a gap and look on the wall and on the ground for bat guano (droppings). They can usually be found on the most dominant entry point, trapped on the walls below the gap and on the ground.
Should you be worried about bat guano?
Avoid unprotected contact with the bat guano. Bat’s may carry rabies. In areas where large amounts of guano are piled up and enough humidity and heat are present, such as the attic, there is a risk of Histoplasmosis. It is possible to contract this disease from exposure to bat guano. Histoplasmosis is a fungi which can become airborne when disturbed in the form of spores.
The best method for bat removal is to identify the gaps they are entering from. This can include chimney caps, or soffits. Once we have identified the area, we will install a meshing designed to function as an exclusion system. This is also known as a one-way door exit. Which means that the animal(s) can exit, but they will not be able to re-enter back into the attic. This would effectively eliminate the problem. If you have a bat problem we will be more than happy to assist you to humanely remove your problem.
