Things you must know before hiring contractors for raccoon or wildlife removal
You wouldn’t hire a roofer to renovate your kitchen and you wouldn’t hire an electrician to build you a deck. So don’t hire a roofer to deal with your animal problems. Roofers can play an important part of keeping animals out of your attic but not when it comes to raccoon or wildlife removal services. Sometimes in a windy day you may lose a few shingles and that’s fine, you need a roofer! Other times you may have leakage because there may be a gap or a hole under the missing shingles. When do you know you need wildlife control over roofers or other contractors? When any mysterious holes appear on your roof bigger than a tennis ball.
At a bare minimum you should conduct an inspection through a wildlife control company before having a roofer patch up any damage. Nowadays, contractors explain their service and show pictures of damaged areas. Most professionals are happy to brag about their services or show their findings to homeowners. Ask to be shown pictures, if you’re unsure you can have a wildlife inspection or send your pictures and ask for advice before repairing your roof.
Obvious signs
More than 80% of the time, it’s obvious that you have animals inside the attic. Animals are noisy! If you can hear running, scattering, chewing, walking or shuffling in the ceiling then something is wrong. Chances are that the holes on the roof are the entry point of the target animal and must be dealt with using one way doors. Closing any hole on the roof without an exit door will result in animal death or more damage to your roof.
