In this portion of the season or mid baby season, raccoon baby removal will face several problems and solutions. The issue we face with raccoons that haven’t fully developed into adult raccoons is the limitations in removal. Generally you need an attic with space when you need to remove raccoons at this stage of their development from an attic. This is because as we enter the attic, the babies begin to move and relocate themselves in the hardest reachable space within the attic. Sometime these places cannot be reached at all, in example a bungalow attic where crawling is necessary. In this such situation, the only removal method may be to wait out the teenage months of the raccoons so that they become intelligent and physically capable enough to use the one-way door device.
We are now in this season. If you’ve got raccoon babies without sufficient space in the attic, chances are you’re going to have to live with them just a bit longer. The time where it may be safe to use a one-way door is approximately mid July. The reason why you should wait and make sure, is safety. If a mother raccoon leaves through a one-way door there are 2 events that may unfold which are both undesirable. Firstly, the mother will damage the roof again and regains entry, leaving you with expenses and a repeat service. Secondly, the babies may die out in the attic if the mother can’t get back to the babies.
One-way door raccoon removal
Leaving a one-way door at this stage of the season is risky. Some raccoon babies may be able to use the door to leave, and some won’t be able to. A wildlife control technician can check the babies development stage and decide if a one-way door should be used. Finally the clients cooperation is necessary to ensure that the raccoons have left. The participation of the client is to listen for noises which is the best indication of raccoon activity. Once the technicians return, they will double check the attic before removing and sealing the one-way door area. If the babies were not able to leave, removing the one-way door and allowing the mother back in is the best step to take.
When the babies are old enough, another attempt can be made with the one-way door to remove the raccoons without a problem. Below is a video of such an instance where space is limited, and the babies are quite big!
